Year-Long Positions
The Office of Student Living and Campus Engagement hires students to cover a range of duties within our residence halls. Each position is intended to be year-long employment (or semesterly as needed). Each position is paid at an hourly minimum wage rate.
- Community Advisors are enthusiastic, organized, and dependable returning students who are responsible for assisting the Office of Student Living and Campus Engagement in developing a sense of community within the residence halls.

- Student Living Evening Assistants assist the Office of Student Living and Campus Engagement in policy enforcement, emergency response, crisis and conflict resolution, and resource education within the residential community in the evening hours.
- At this time, the Office of Student Living does not have any available openings for Evening Assistants for the Fall 2024 semester. Please check back periodically for updates.
- Student Living Operations Coordinators are students who are responsible for assisting the Office of Student Living and Campus Engagement with day-to-day housing operations such as residential lockouts, health and safety inspections, facilities work order requests, and room condition reports.

- Student Living Marketing Coordinators are students who are responsible for collaborating with the Office of Student Living and Campus Engagement to create successful social media campaigns and other marketing campaigns for the residential program at Utica University.
- At this time, the Office of Student Living does not have any available openings for Marketing Coordinators for the Fall 2024 semester. Please check back periodically for updates.
Temporary Positions
The Office of Student Living and Campus Engagement hires students to cover a range of duties during peak times of the year within our residence halls. Each position is intended to be a temporary position during move-in week in August or move-out week in May.
Each position is paid at an hourly minimum wage rate. The positions listed below have specific application open and close dates. If you are interested in any of these positions you may contact our office or view the job descriptions on the JobX portal once they open.
- Move-In Assistants are enthusiastic, organized, and dependable returning students who are responsible for assisting the Office of Student Living and Campus Engagement with all aspects of the residential move-in in August.
- We are not currently accepting applications for this position. We anticipate accepting applications for this position on July 1, 2024.
- Move-out Assistants are enthusiastic, organized, and dependable returning students who are responsible for assisting the Office of Student Living and Campus Engagement with all aspects of the residential move-out in May.
- We are not currently accepting applications for this position. We anticipate accepting applications for this position on March 1, 2024.

- Q: Do any of these new positions include a room waiver as part of the compensation package?
- A: No, all the positions will be paid the current NYS minimum wage rate for the hours worked each pay period.
- Q: Can I choose which community I work in as a Community Advisor?
- A: No, the professional staff will place you where they think you would work best based on your interview and other application materials.
- Q: Do I need to live in the building that I am a Community Advisor for?
- A: No, you do not need to live in the building you are a Community Advisor for.
- Q: Can I hold two hourly year-long positions?
- A: No, at this time students will only be able to hold one of the hourly year-long positions.
- Q: What will my work schedule look like?
- A: Your work schedule will depend on the position you are hired into, but most will be flexible enough to accommodate class times and other commitments.
- Q: For the Student Living Evening Assistant position, how does desk duty work?
- A: Desk duty for this position starts at 8pm every weekday evening. Then ends at 11pm or 2am on Sunday through Thursday (depending on location) and 2am on Friday or Saturday shifts. You may not be scheduled in the same building every shift.
- Q: Can I apply to more than one year-long position during the hiring process?
- A: Yes, but you will only be hired into one year-long position for the upcoming year. You may be hired into a year-long position and multiple temporary positions during peak times of the year.
- Q: Will I need to attend more than one interview if I’m applying for different positions?
- A: Yes, each position has different requirements and skill assessments so we will coordinate your interview schedule to allow you to interview for each one.
- Q: What will the training look like for these positions?
- A: Each position will require training, but our department is hoping that the new model will allow for a shorter training period during the summer. We anticipate training to begin approximately 1.5 weeks before the start of the fall semester.
- Q: Will I need to apply every year?
- A: No, there is a rehire process for returning staff that is different from the initial hiring process.
